I don't really know what to say about Deel.
The interview process started off with an introduction, the I arrived at the online meeting on time but the interviewer notified me that he had screwed up the time zones so I had to wait another hour. After that we proceeded with the interview and we agreed that I had to complete a Home task assignment.
I spent the weekend completing this home task assignment and then I got a notification for a mock sales call. I proceeded to the next interview and completed the mock call and from there I was waiting for a job offer.
This is where things went wrong I received a phone call from the first interviewer explaining that I had to complete a new interview as the two managers who interviewed me for the mock call needed a third opinion from a new manager who has not started working for the company, I tried to talk to get someone which would help me understand the situation but nobody could really help me understand why the decision was now determined by someone who does not have experience working for the company.
I then agreed to to the third interview, and from here the new manger didn't really provide any internal information about the position for the company he kept using sales pitches and metaphor's to try and sell the position, he then said that I had to do another mock sales call. I couldn't really understand why, I just wanted to get away from this guy based off his demeanor and now apparently dismissing all the effort I had put in until this point.
I tried to get some info from the first interviewer but he seemed to be talking in circles and then I was forwarded to one of the managers, this manager again was talking in circles and seemed to be laughing at me. I was given no choice but to conduct the 2nd mock call. The manager explained that I needed to do a second mock call to apply the feedback from the first call.
During the second mock call I made it through as far I could and then I couldn't get past how Deel was supposed to ensure compliance with local labor laws. I don't understand why it was necessary for me to explain this given that I had already completed one mock call with success and the managers had explained that they were not expecting me to be a "Deel expert". The managers then started to explain what could have been done better their demeanor seemed to be off as if they wanted to laugh at me or something. Then I asked if I had applied the feedback from the first call, the main manager agreed and then I asked what was the next steps. He seemed to be really frustrated that I had cornered him, he started banging his forehead with his hand and now the new manager notified that I had to wait again for an answer and abruptly ended the call when this was time for my questions to be addressed.
This whole process took over two months and after completing the home task, 2 mock calls with confirmed success, 6 total video meetings, I ended up withdrawing my application, I felt it was unhealthy for me to work under people who apparently found my application to be a bit of a laughing stock.
