      Flight Attendant Interview

      1 Mar 2015
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Atlanta, GA
      No offer
      Positive experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Delta Air Lines (Atlanta, GA) in Feb 2015

      Interview

I applied for the no language required posting back in January and was contactes via email about a week later to compleye the virtual interview. After that i ws then informed by email that I would be receiving a call from a recruiter to ask me questions regarding my passport. I receives the call from a blocked number and spoke with the recruiter who asked me questions about the video I saw during my virtual interview. He asked me questions about my body image like if I had any tattoos or visible piercings and if I would be able to comply with Delta's uniform standards. After that he asked questions about my passport which in that case I could not answer because I had not received it yet. After successfully passing all of these questions he advisdd me that I would be receiving a series of emails including an invitation for a F2F interview in Atlanta at their HQ and to choose from the available time slots. I received the email about two days later asking me to pick times on such short notice. I had to email them and ask for two weeks that way I could make arrangements with my current employer. Once I got to the F2F interview they have you wait at the front lobby area until all the candidates arrive and everyone is chatting with each other. Once its time they call out your name and give you a clear plastic envelope to keep your required documents specific to each candidate (application, passport, ss card, college transcripts, etc.) After they get through this part they take you to another part of the building to place your luggage and other belongings while in the interview. They guide you into another room where they conduct the interview but before this there are a group of tenured flight attendants and HR staff standing around waiting for you to introudce yourself. After this they ask you to sit down to greet you with a dance and then divide everyone into three groups according to the letter that is placed on your name tag. In my interview group A had their interview first, group B which was mine had the fire side chat and cabin measurements/photo taken, and group C went into a room where they introduced themselves and learned about pay, flight hours, benefits, and seniority. Each group rotated until each had been through every section. The actual interview consist of one flight attendant and one HR personnel. They ask you anout six questions and would like for each one to be answered in the STAR format; situation, task, action, and result. The interview itself is about thirty minutes and they like for you to go the full thirty minutes. During the whole time you are talking they are looking down writing notes and will give you a blank stare that way its hard to interpret their thoughts or feelings. Once you are finished they offer to answer any questions I had and then thanked me for my time. We all met into the main room and waited until everyone was finished. After a 30 minute break one of the flight attendant comes into the room and thanks everyone for their time and that we would be notified within 7-10 days regarding a decision. However in my group they called about 8 out of 60 names to stay behind. These eight individuals were offered the position and stayed to fill out paperwork and given their training date. The rest of us were guided toward the bus that took us to the airport then another flight attendant came onto the bus and thanked everyone for coming out and wished us good luck. Everyone pretty much knew this was the ens of the journey and the email would be a "thanks but no thanks" email which I did receive two days later. I enjoyed the interview because I met a lot of great people with diverse backgrounds and loads of exprience, but i don't like this model thay Delta uses. Everyone was puzzled on what characteristics Delta was looking for in a potential FA. I also don't feel it was right to discuss pay and benefits and flight hours along with taking our pictures when they only chose eight people. The lady from HR that I had met with to go over my application was very rude and crticized me for leaving out a parking ticket I got three years ago which I forgot to put on my app at the time I applied. This recruiter that interviewed me was not friendly and was condescending when I asked him questions. I enjoyed all the Flight Attendants as they were very friendly, funny, and welcoming. Please make sure you dress up in business professional attire in nothing less or more than a suit. A few individuals that werent picked did not dress in business attire and this is a requirement when they send the invitation. Other than thay it wa a good experience, but I think its too much of. tidious process to go through again in six months when you are eligible to re-apply again. Good luck to those who have any upcoming interviews. It truly was a fun experience and even better if you get selected.

      Interview

I am currently in the interview process for the FA position and have reached the ODV part of it. Most of the questions are expierenced based, so I would recommend just thinking of the times you have exceeded the customer service baseline before hand.
