I applied online. The process took 4 days. I interviewed at Dillard's (Mesa, AZ) in Jun 2024
Interview
My first interview went well and was fairly quick, about 10 minutes in I was told that she was going to look for her store manager. After about 15 minutes she came back and asked me if I would be okay with waiting about 20 minutes to speak to the store manager. I said yes, no problem. I proceeded to wait 30 minutes before the store manager greeted me and took me to her office. After a few minutes of looking over my job history, asking detailed questions of each job that I have had even ones that are from over ten years ago, she asks why I want to leave my current job. I inform that I am looking for something closer to home and somewhere that can accommodate my needing Sundays off. She informs that Sunday availability is needed. I let her know that the position I applied for and was interviewing for stated Monday-Friday in the job posting. She then tells me that the position I was interviewing for was already filled. This was upsetting as I would have not been interested had I known this prior. I found this interview process to be misleading, unprofessional, and a general waste of my time.
I applied through other source. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Dillard's (Lewisville, TX)
Interview
wasn't very difficult, they asked the normal questions and were very easy going. they didn't seem to ask many behavioral questions. It seemed like it depended on the person asking the questions, because I was told that other people got really hard questions. all they are looking for is someone to fill a sales position spot no matter if they promise you something else instead.
I applied in-person. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Dillard's (Atlanta, GA) in Sept 2009

Showing proof of your job experience in a portfolio is important. Come dressed for success because your attire gives management a "first impressions" of you. Carries a lot of weight with them. Customer service and sales are most important to company and knowledge of both important.

Question 1
Every interview was different. An online questionaire tells them a lot about you and they weigh heavily on that and a background check before hiring.
