      Senior Software Engineer Interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Docusign (San Francisco, CA) in Feb 2013

      Interview

Had a phone interview where we discussed a design problem. Was later asked to code it and email it to the interviewer. Later was called in for an onsite after looking at the code. The onsite was overall. Started off with a few mins with the recruiter in which he gave some points on the company culture and benefits. Must say the benefits are great and the people there seemed to be generally happy and excited. The energy in the people was obvious and indicated that the people there were having a good time. It was followed by an hour-long technical interview that involved 2 whiteboard questions. The first one was a simple string reversal question. I gave a solution that the interviewer was also not aware of and I explained him the solution. The second question was about the underlying algorithm for URL shorteners. We started with a base case and gradually moved to the final solution. I got stuck sometimes in this question but was eventually able to crack it. I was scheduled for 3 more interviews but after the first technical, the recruiter notified me that they'd decided not to move forward with me. This was a little surprising as I thought the interview went ok (not great but not too bad either). I guess they needed someone who could crack the second question within much less time and with much less hiccups. It was a little disappointing since I liked the place and would have definitely loved to work here. I would have liked to interact with a few more people and see what they thought about me as a candidate. It's understandable though that they are looking for truly brilliant engineers and I guess I wasn't up to that mark today. The place looked wonderful though and the people looked passionate about what they do and programming in general. I would rate this company as a must-try for anyone.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Questions were not difficult (details already covered in the above paragraph). A few things as simple as a remainder skipped my mind so that was hiccup.

      Interview

Pathetic Candidate experience and recruitment team and has no idea on what talent they really want, and do not honor candidates' time. I had my interviews scheduled without preference. Candidate experience unreachable over phone, and barely responds to email. Recruiter goes back and forth on the title. Believe this is India specific,vs other regions
