I've been contacted on LinkedIn by an external HR agency, they proposed me a full remote position as a Senior Frontend developer. The job offer proposed a RAL between 45k and 65k (€), and many other benefits were listed.
I went through a two months long selection process, with 4 calls (external head hunter, internal HR manager, CTO, CTO of another development unit).
They repeatedly tried to get info about my current salary, and I denied every time but I've been clear about my expectations.
All the calls were pleasant and pretty informal, they all said nice words about my profile and expertise, I kept getting nice feedbacks usually with at most one week of delay.
The technical interview with the CTO lasted two hours, ended up being a friendly chat and I actually enjoyed it.
I also had to complete an online coding test (focused on Angular, SQL, C#) that I found easy and quick. The platform they use for the tests is quite buggy tough, so expect your tests to fail even if your solution is correct.
All considered, I spent around 8 hours to complete the interview process, and only when they made me an offer I discovered that actually they weren't willing to offer what the job offer said.
They offered me 40k for the position, but they failed to motivate as to why they would offer less than the lower end of the job offer range (45k).
I tried to negotiate but the HR person I've been in touch with didn't want to, and only kept praising about how much of a good workplace E80 is.
Overall I disliked the offer and I hated that they have not been honest enough to clearly state from the beginning what the real range of RAL would have been. I felt tricked into going through the interview process and I just lost an insane amount of time.
The offer was good, but the process have been fishy and exhausting, so I declined it.
