      Principal Software Engineer Interview

      16 Sept 2019
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Bengaluru
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at EFI (Bengaluru) in Sept 2019

      Interview

Waste of an entire day !! I went there after being contacted by a consultancy. Before proceeding with the process, I clearly told them about my expectation in terms of the salary and the current offer that I had. 5 rounds of interview and 1 week later, I still have no clue of what is happening with it. The consultancy people had given a verbal confirmation that EFI is going to roll out the offer and asked for details of the current offer I had. No communication post that from both of them ( EFI and consulting agency). I even tried to reach the consulting agency but they never received my call. Rather unprofessional on behalf of both. If you are going to go for an interview, get it explicitly sorted with EFI recruitment team that they are okay with your expectations rather than wasting your time.

      Interview

I would like to share my interview experience. Unfortunately, I had a very bad interview (rather I would say the worst) experience of my career. I am going explain in detail as below. I wish I am the only man who faced all this. Also, I hope that my feedback will help your organization to improve interview process. #1: My first interview with EFI was a telephonic round which took around 45~50 minutes. We (Interviewer and I) had a healthy discussion. I didn’t get any update post interview, so I approached HR. As per HR, the feedback was not positive. I accepted the feedback and moved on. Suddenly, one day I get a call again from HR, saying there was some confusion “Your telephonic interview feedback was positive, and we would like to meet you personally”. This where I felt bad and was thinking how can be one so irresponsible. #2: Anyway, as scheduled in-person interview based on my telephonic round, I reached EFI campus at 8:45AM on 27th Sep 2019 (15 minutes prior to scheduled time). There I wasted my whole day including lunch time while waiting for interview. Only two rounds of technical discussion happened. HR/interview panel were so unprofessional that they didn’t even ask about the lunch. Forget about offering/asking lunch, they didn’t even bother to inform that I should have lunch somewhere outside and come back. Not even a single cup of tea/coffee. You only think about a person waiting from 8:45AM till 2:30PM without having anything. #3: By this time, I have completed 3 technical rounds (1 telephonic, 2 in person). So now, on 3rd Oct 2019 9:00AM, my in-person interview with manager was scheduled. As schedule I reached 15 minutes prior to the venue. After again waiting for around 1.30 hrs, a technical person (instead of manager) came and started another technical round. I supposed to be managerial round, but it turned into technical round. After finishing 4th technical round, there was no feedback available till 12PM (notice 3 hrs here in which 2 hours were waiting), so I left EFI campus. #4: Later on HR confirmation, I agreed to attend one managerial and one director round on 9th Oct 2019 at 3:00PM. Again, I reached EFI campus. After waiting 1 hours, instead of manager again technical person came and he asked me “is it your second interview?”. When I said 5th, the interview was stunned. By this time, I lost my hope and I asked panel to setup meeting with manager. In some time, manager came. I explained him all the story as mentioned the above. This time, it was my turn to be stunned. Instead of accepting the things/bad interview management, he started giving excuses like we had some executive visits that day, parallelly many people were busy in interview drive and your last round was not so great so we thought of having another technical round. It was completely unprofessional. #5 Finally (last but not least), I supposed to meet HR person (Deepak J) in all my in-person interviews and it was so unfortunate that HR person didn’t even try to have formal interaction. Considering all above, I sensed there is lot of communication gap, disarrangement and collaboration.
