I was recently approached on LinkedIn by a recruiter from Exus for an ML Engineer role. Although I had another offer on the table, the recruiter was understanding and supportive, moving the initial stages of the process along quickly. I completed an HR screening, an assessment, and a technical interview within a reasonable timeframe.
However, the process became less smooth after the technical assessment. The task was quite open-ended, leaving the approach ambiguous, but I dedicated a significant amount of time to deliver a high-quality solution, including code, a detailed report, and a presentation. I submitted it two days before the deadline, but I didn’t receive any response for over 10 days, eventually receiving a standard rejection email without any specific feedback.
When I reached out a couple of times (ultimately through LinkedIn), I finally received minimal feedback that felt generic and disconnected from my actual work. Overall, the process seemed disorganized and left me with the impression that there was a lack of clarity and respect for candidate effort.
