There was a phone interview to proceed a few days after I applied. The phone interview discussed mostly about what I would do in the role and the SOW. I could tell the company was rather disorganized (being nice here) because the woman who interviewed me said they're looking to fill the role ASAP to finish out the remainder of a project (the person formerly in the position left the company apparently). I inquired about the company's culture and environment, client site information and salary. The latter, she told me if I'm selected for an in-person interview, I could ask the PMs. I thought that was odd granted she's the HR person and should know this information.
I was immediately invited to an in-person interview three days afterwards. The interview was with the lead Data Manager at EconSys & a PM at the client project. The interview location was really far in Falls Church, a 45 minute drive for me & would've been 2 hours via public transit. I get there and they were slightly late. One of the PMs interviewing me was jolly but rude in her behavior. She repeatedly said she's "sleepy" during my interview. It seemed like they were scoring me 1-3 on a sheet of paper based on the answers I gave.
Two things that gave me a huge red flag (outside the lateness and one interviewer repeatedly saying she's sleepy)
1) they gave me differing info about the project I'd be working on versus what I was initially told during the phone interview with the HR person. It was even differing agencies and scope of work.
2) them getting very weirded out when I inquired about the salary. I only asked because my phone interviewer suggested that I should.
Massive miscommunication about the position was evident. The lady said one last thing to me that made me feel weird. Overall, I think I did my best during the interview. I got a rejection email and I figured the above reasons were why. I'm mostly annoyed that I drove 45 minutes for nothing.
