I applied online to a job family req. so I didn't have much clarity as far as what the role would actually entail. About three weeks later, I got an email from the hiring manager to set up a F2F at the local office which I found strange given the norm is at least one phone screen prior to F2F.
When I got there, I was greeted by the hiring manager and a team of 5 with one team member on the phone. I was asked about past experience and some general SQL and agile questions. Nothing too difficult except one of the developers was extremely quiet and had a thick accent so it was difficult to decipher exactly what she was even asking me. That made me feel uncomfortable as I didn't want to come off as rude but I just couldn't hear or understand her despite asking her to repeat a few times. She got frustrated and gave up.
I got the sense that this team is frustrated/over worked to some extent and need someone who can help alleviate some of their workload (on-call prod support) and that there is a level of difficulty in dealing with one of their product owners as that was also a very specific question that I was asked.
There were some odd-ball questions asked, which to me were red flags of either issues the team is dealing with or lack of creativity amongst the team.
The hiring manager was extremely nice and seems like someone easy to work for, but there seems to be some underlying issues going on in this team that I am just not willing to be a part of at this point in my career.
