I applied to multiple roles at Empower Pharmacy that appeared distinct in title, but upon closer review, had nearly identical job descriptions, making it unclear what differentiated one position from another. I spoke twice with the same HR recruiter, which felt repetitive and did not provide any meaningful advancement in the process. I was also asked to complete an in-depth assessment outlining my 30/60/90-day priorities which was essentially the same question asked multiple ways, and in which it took nearly an hour to complete and ultimately felt like a waste of time.
What stood out as particularly unusual was the CEO’s involvement in the interview process for a VP-level marketing role that will eventually report into a CMO who hasn’t even been hired yet. It would have made more sense to hire the CMO first and allow them to build their own team, rather than launching multiple concurrent VP searches with unclear reporting lines or strategic direction.
Finally, I was asked to sign a lengthy NDA prior to speaking with the CEO. I raised reasonable questions about the NDA’s scope and five-year post-termination confidentiality clause, but received no response. The lack of engagement after expressing concerns was disappointing and unprofessional.
Overall, the experience felt disorganized and lacking in transparency. I would caution senior-level professionals to carefully evaluate how Empower Pharmacy handles candidate interactions and internal alignment before committing significant time to their hiring process. If I could give zero stars then I would!
