      Management Trainee Interview

      12 Jan 2024
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Seattle, WA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Enterprise Mobility (Seattle, WA) in Jan 2024

      Interview

I applied for the role then filled out a couple forms. I was contacted a few days to a week later to schedule an interview. The interview was via Microsoft Teams with an HR person and it was a pretty bad experience. Started off with pretty basic questions about why Enterprise, what I was hoping for based on my majors, etc. I have a good amount of education under my belt (Masters) but I lack formal experience hence why I was applying for this role. I talked about my programs but I was unsure about what my future would look like since I don't yet have work experience. She then reads through a series of "tell me about a time..." questions and it felt more like the interviewer had a checklist of questions she had to hit versus her actually listening to what I was saying. The line of questions and lack of any real human emotions, made the entire interview very uncomfortable and stiff. Especially since the interviewer had a blank look on their face for all of my answers. After all the questions, she quickly jumped into how the salary in this position had increased from 56k to 57k (I hadn't asked about salary at all). Also unprompted, she told me that in 10 months of the program, trainees could apply for Assistant Manager positions which make 60k + commissions. Then she started listing off the other positions one could be promoted to like branch manager which would make 120k (I think) + commissions. It really felt like she was trying to sell me on this idea that there is growth in the field and that wages will get better which was pretty ineffective considering the attitude of the whole interview. Afterwards I asked her some questions and the responses, or rather, lack thereof, was pretty concerning to me. First question was about work-life balance, as many of the reviews on here about this position talk about the sheer amount of work. I received a response of how an average 45 hour work week is common for the company, and for work-life balance she told me point blank "what you do with your time outside of work is your own" which I thought avoided the question and was an obvious statement. Another question asked was to clarify job responsibilities and I was just told that I would need to go see a day in a life of a trainee to understand it fully which was so vague. I left the interview dead set on not wanting to move forward with the role should I have passed the initial interview. The interviewer gave me pretty negative vibes and it baffled me that someone who appeared so uninterested with people was working HR. This tied into the vague answers and negative reviews about working in this position really solidified my feelings. The only pro out of this entire process was that scheduling the interviews and results after were very fast, and I was glad to receive a response unlike with some companies that ghost you.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

What made you want to apply for the role? Where do you see yourself in 5 years? Tell me about a time where you went above and beyond for a customer. Tell me about a time where you persuaded someone to purchase something or of an idea. Tell me about a time you had to step up as a leader. Tell me about a time where you had to work through conflict or miscommunication with your team. How do you make sure that your team members do what is asked of them? Is sales something you can see yourself working in, in the future?

      Interview

More conversational than a typical interview style making it much more in depth and interesting. As a candidate you also get to know how the person across you made it to where they are now, using the same trainings you would eventually learn.

      Interview

It was an average difficulty interview with the most standard, basic questions. The interviewer had a deadpan, annoyed face and looked and sounded like she didn't want to be there. I didn't prepare for it and didn't pass, but I don't think most people will have a problem if they just prepare beforehand
