I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Epson America
Interview
The actual interviews were great. The salary negotiations were terrible.
They first requested my salary expectations, after extending a job offer (no salary specified). Based on the fact that my initial expectation was >10k higher than "what they had in mind", they decided to confer with their bosses to "see whether they can raise it a bit". The next day, they withdrew the offer without requesting input from me. They cited "differences in salary expectations" as the reason.
This just felt disingenuous and a waste of everyone's time. The lack of respect and communication during a salary "negotiation" was frustrating. Additonally, the offer that they had in mind was the same salary that undergrad interns were receiving.
There was a phone conversation followed by an onsite interview. The phone conversation asked about my experience and past projects. The onsite interview provided the opportunity to meet the team.
