      Data Analyst Entry Level Interview

      22 Jan 2026
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Costa Mesa, CA
      No offer
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Experian

      Interview

The interview was fairly standard asking about my experience and interest in the role. When discussing the next interview stages, my interviewer seemed pretty annoyed at the fact that I don't own a laptop which is able to run fairly hefty programs such as SAS and R which doesn't seem particularly reasonable. Also, in my 'personalised' rejection call, the company cited that their reason was that I didn't have a masters while other candidates did.. except I do have a masters degree which is very clearly stated on my CV and was obviously a talking point in the interview.

      Question 1

Why are you interested in the role?

I applied online. I interviewed at Experian (Costa Mesa, CA) in Dec 2025

      Interview

Process depends on the team, but there are typically 2 rounds of behavioral with a little technical in the mix for the second round, or one behavioral and then one coding/technical interview.

      Entry Level Data Analyst Interview

      Application

I applied through university. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Experian (Indianapolis, IN) in Nov 2018

      Interview

      1. Phone Interview with Hiring Manager: background information to technical details: how did u handle missing values, how to compare two different models, how do you evaluate your model... 2. Onsite interview(1 hr) + onsite technical written test (1.5 hr). I was scheduled to have an onsite interview with 3 people including the hiring manager and two data scientists. I was asked to give a presentation and talk about a current project during the interview. The technical written test covers java, command line, R, SAS and Macro, Bayesian and Vienn Diagram problems. You do not have to finish them all and they have a table for you to score yourself for different techniques. The onsite interview was not a pleasant experience. 5 instead of 3 interviewer showed up. They asked about my current internship experience and showed no interests. Then they no longer read my resume but instead, they started to ask random questions: given a dataset which has variables gender and age, how do you predict body mass index, how do you handle missing predictors and responses?

      Interview questions [1]
