As a freelancer, I take a good number of exploratory calls (short-term gigs, on-site projects, etc.).
Screening calls have become sophisticated. Recruiters get right into the fine details of the job and talk shop -- respectfully.
That wasn't the case here!
The call made me wince -- immediately. Why? Rather than reiterate the position or ask if I had any questions (Salary? Typical hours?), the energizer bunny recruiter just tore into her canned script.
(Not an exaggeration, it really was canned. She flubbed her words reading it 1x or 2x!)
The job ("email marketing specialist") made sense based on the company's ad. It was a mix of writing, audience segmentation, analyzing data, and optimizing work flow. I watched demos of the automation service they use in preparation for the call. Cool, intuitive interface. But it's hard to get into that when the recruiter's questions ask you to rank yourself on a 1-10 scale.
("I'm a perfect TEN... in everything!")
To be fair to the recruiter, she probably had 65 other calls to make that day.
Clearly the position was a low priority for Faithlife. The salary (which I managed to extract before the recruiter rushed off the phone) confirmed it.
