      Implementation Consultant Interview

      21 Jan 2021
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Denver, CO
      Declined offer
      Neutral experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I interviewed at Fast Enterprises (Denver, CO) in Nov 2019

      Interview

First-round tests your algorithm skills. They give you a test packet with puzzle problems. The last two questions are actually a programming question. Once you finish the packet, they bring you to another room and ask about your thought process when solving the programming problem. And how you can make the algorithm more efficient. They then ask you how to define CS terms like an object, class, and encapsulation. I passed the first round, so they flew me out to their headquarters in Denver with 3 other people. We were all in the same hotel with free food. It was good to connect with the other applicants, as we were all supportive of each other rather than competitive. They gave a tour of the office, and then each of us had a different employee interviewing us. My interviewer worked in the company for a really long time so he understood the ins and outs of the company. He asked me to define CS terms again like what is an array, and how do you add a term in an array. He then asked me a puzzle question which took a majority of time within the interview. After that, he then reviewed my resume and transcript and asked me what my favorite classes were and why. He also asked me about my past programming experience. One thing that was odd was that he did not know what some common languages were. I told him in one of my projects that I built a Java Spring backend that connected with various microservices. And he was genuinely puzzled on what exactly Java and Spring are. After the interview, three out of the four applicants (including me) were invited to have lunch with another employee. It was an opportunity to ask her questions about the work in the company, and what our interests were. It seems that if you end up being invited to lunch, then you most likely got the job. It was fun cause she was brutally honest on what their expectations on the job were, and it allowed us to open up honestly to her without any risk of being looked down. Overall it was a fun interview process. Questions were easy and it was cool to briefly tour a city where I have never been to before.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

"There are three boxes, one contains only apples, one contains only oranges, and one contains both apples and oranges. The boxes have been incorrectly labeled such that no label identifies the actual contents of the box it labels. Opening just one box, and without looking in the box, you take out one piece of fruit. By looking at the fruit, how can you immediately label all of the boxes correctly?"
