30 minute interview call with recruiter (external) - speaking about interests and skills. The recruiter passed on my profile to the hiring manager. Followed this up with a 45 minute call with the hiring manager, speaking about skills, day-to-day and experience. Behavioral/technical interview. At the end, I was told I'd be moving forward with the process and get a take-home assignment to solve. This was followed by a take-home assignment with a deadline. On submission, after internal review, the team arranged an assignment review discussion. Post this, I was invited onsite for an interview. However, they decided to pass as I required a transfer of H1B visa.
Huge red flag - I provided a detailed design critique and a full epic of user stories to enhance the tool I was critiquing, post which they decided to bring up the visa issue - this had been communicated to both the recruiter and the hiring manager. I gave them genuinely good Product work for free (they themselves attested to the quality of the deliverable)
