      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at First Republic in Apr 2020

      Interview

This is going to be a long review, but one I needed to post. Well, I applied for the Associate role initially in 2020. A recruiter contacted me and we set up a call. During our call, she suggested a different role, and I told her I was interested in being considered for said role. Shortly after, I had a phone interview with the hiring manager. Afterwards, an interview with 4 team members back-to-back 30 mins long each. The recruiter called me the following day and said that she received positive feedback and would like to schedule me for another Zoom (I believe it was Zoom if I remember correctly) interview with 3 more members of the team who oversee the department. At this point, I had already interviewed with 6 people. 15 minutes before my scheduled second round of Zoom interviews, I received an email from the recruiter stating that the VP of the department will have to reschedule but will interview with the other two team members as scheduled. This was a major red flag as they waited until the last minute to notify me but I figured sometimes emergencies can come up. I suggested a phone call instead since I could not take any more days off for a single Zoom interview, but they insisted on a video interview. The interview with the other two members went well, and I had that one interview left with the VP. Well, a day before the rescheduled interview date, I received an emailed and was told the VP will have to reschedule once again. I was extremely frustrated at this point but wanted to see it through. Two days before the second rescheduled interview, I received a call from the recruiter that the department had been dismantled, and they would no longer be hiring for that specific department/role. So, you mean to tell me that FRB had no idea?! This may explain why the VP "rescheduled" twice. I was even sent the forms to get my live scan and background check completed, but thankfully my appointment was scheduled a couple of months out due to COVID or else that would have also been a complete waste of time. The story does not end here. About 6 months later, the recruiter reached out to reconnect. In hindsight, I should have known it was going to be a complete waste of time, but I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt. We spoke briefly over the phone, and she mentioned that an Account Executive role was open. She set up a Zoom interview with the hiring manager after I expressed interested. Turns out, the hiring manager was someone I interviewed with a few months ago during the first round of Zoom interviews. Well, during the interview, and she mentioned several times that FRB typically does not hire externally for the AE role and instead the position goes to someone internally by promoting them. She also mentioned that the position had been open for about a year, and they were not in a rush to fill it. Wonderful, exactly what I wanted to hear. Two weeks went by when I finally heard from the recruiter — they do not believe I have the experience needed to for the role. Definitely not true, but if that was in fact the case, why even suggest the AE role to me. It seems like external candidates are not even considered for this particular role. If you are applying to FRB, expect to spend a lot of time interviewing. Excuse the typos -- I am on mobile.

      Interview

Very straightforward, multiple round process. Very friendly interaction. The team was less concerned about loan processing background experience and more focused on hiring hard-working individuals who will work well in a team setting.
