I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Flexport
Interview
The first conversation was with a technical recruiter who was great! She seemed super thoughtful and interested in getting to know me and what made me tick.
After the initial conversation, I had a one-hour phone call with the hiring manager who wanted to spend that time seeing if we could get to know each other rather than focus on the mutual fit. When we were about 45 min into the conversation he asked me a question that I gave detail around and his response after was, "sorry i was just on slack can you repeat your answer." I at least appreciated his honesty but I almost ended the call right there.
I was then asked to come onsite to meet him and a hiring manager so I could get a feel for the office and the team I could potentially partner with. After the onsite I never heard back one way or the other. I thought after spending three rounds with the team I'd at least get a response back even if it wasn't positive especially since it was recruiter to recruiter.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
How do you foster a strong relationship with your hiring managers?
Surprisingly unprofessional-
A recruiter reached out for interview and then disappeared afterwards. Neither show up during interview nor respond to my email.
The business in itself is quite interesting and is packaged in a professional way at least from their website. However, neither in my own career so far nor with any other firms, happened such unprofessional way of doing things. Ghosting your candidates is not acceptable esp after the recruiter shows interest to my profile.
I’m curious if it is something on personal level or general issues internally. If it is for the latter, I’m glad that I know it already.
The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Flexport (Atlanta, GA) in Jun 2019
Interview
The candidate experience was GREAT. I saw the position online via LinkedIn. I applied and received an email a few days later from the hiring manager. Scheduled time to converse about my background and Flexport’s company culture. We hit it off well. She put me in contact with the HR Coordinator to schedule a Zoom conference video call with her team (4 ppl)(2 hour interview). A week later I was asked to come to the Atlanta office to meet a few more managers and team members. I received an offer 2 days later. Great interview process. Company kept me informed. No one dropped the ball.
