Initially I applied for the PROPERTY MANAGER position advertised on Indeed. I was told by the CEO that that job had been filled a few days prior. He then called me back the next day and asked me to interview for Director of Information and Sales. The process involved one telephone interview, two face to face and a follow-up call with the owner to finalize the offer.
During the first face to face with Reid Stephenson I asked if this was a new position or a replacement. He told me they had a female employee who liked to work but she "was getting up there in years" and not who they wanted in the position. I was offered $100k per year plus bonus when the new FP Real Estate company was up and running. There was a sense of urgency expressed by the CEO and owner for me to start the job immediately so they could "clean house". After I countered for more PTO I suggested the salary be $100k and no bonus, the owner agreed.
The hours required to work were very ambiguous. I knew after they "cleaned house" I would have to work every weekend which I was not willing to do. I kept asking for clarification and was told "lets just see how things go". Finally after reminding them I need work-life balance they put weekends on a rotating basis in the job offer.
They kept pressuring me to begin work immediately but I told them I could not begin until Feb 5 2018; they agreed. I was REQUIRED to attend three company meetings with the duration of each being approx 2.5 hours plus, redesign business collateral and collaborate on an upcoming ad in Garden and Gun magazine. I finally expressed that I would not be available to "work" for free until my official start date.
They wanted the DIS to be accountable for the Club, rentals, and the new real estate company they are starting, basically all areas. The CEO Reid Stephenson sent me an offer to sign and required I return to him immediately. I accepted the position in writing and the next day he sent an email saying they were withdrawing the offer. They were aware I had turned down another good job offer to accept this one.
