I emailed my cover letter and resume to the email address specified on the advertisement. I never heard anything back until I sent a follow up email.
I received a response to that email that they would be reaching out to candidates within a week, two weeks later I received an email with a list of questions and a request to attach a writing sample. I sent back all the relevant materials and waited to hear back. About a week and a half later I got an email that they are reviewing applicants' materials and I would be hearing from them soon.
A month later I haven't heard anything.
In my opinion, extremely unprofessional, if you don't want a candidate - simply tell them, don't expect them to just "know."
