I applied on a company site.
Then I had a recruiter call. I enjoyed talking to the recruiter, he made me feel that company is quite flexible, and takes care after employees. Later he provided feedbacks very fast through the whole process.
After that I got a test assignment, it wasn’t hard but took some time for me.
Then it was technical interview where I felt like they are looking for a person with a wide expertise. The interview was ok.
Then there was team fit interview which I didn’t pass. It was in the office. The main interviewer missed some basic politeness, no even small talk in the beginning or in the end, he never smiled and used stress interview techniques, it felt like “a bad cop/good cop” routine. I couldn’t feel comfortable in there. And then I was rejected due to questionable reasons which felt like a personal dislike.
The thoughts on the process:
After the initial call, I expected Funda to be a medium-sized company with a cozy, welcoming atmosphere. However, the team fit interview gave me the impression of a 'mini-corporation' with an even more rigid hierarchy. It felt like a culture where one is expected to admire a manager who, despite their technical claims, demonstrated very poor soft skills and a lack of basic professional courtesy.
In corporations, you are at least paid well for this. The compensation in funda is average for Amsterdam but they expect you to be a technical geek, and they also want you to provide a 100% guarantee that you are happy to stay there on the same position for 10+ years which is, likely, unrealistic unless you lie.
I believe HR and hiring manager should align their hiring priorities better.
I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Funda in Nov 2024
Interview
Red flag

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Funda (Amsterdam) in May 2023
Interview
First round was a conversation with HR, which was fine. Then a technical assignment /homework, which was a regular Rest Api with some trick/extra challenges. They accepted it and got called into a technical discussion with 2 seniors. It was a nice experience, they asked technical questions and also asked for some explanation of my code, solutions, ideas. I have explained that due to the time limitation (which has been stated in the assignment description) I chose this and this shortcut and shared some other improvement points and future ideas. After this more than 1 hour call I got a rejection email which contained feedback of my assignment. Their reasoning were exactly 2 of the shortcuts/choices we discussed in the technical interview (and I explained it thoroughly) and naming. Nothing else, like the techical discussion did not happen or did not matter.
Overall I had nice conversations with HR and the devs, they were pretty quick with the responses/interviews but the reasoning ruined my whole opinion, it was so outrageously ignorant.
