      Interview

This was the worst experience of my professional career! Stay away and do yourself a favor...apply to other tech companies in the area. I initially applied for the position and made it to a first round screen. The phone call went well with the recruiting department and they said on the spot I was a top candidate. They wanted to push me through to meet the hiring manager. I was excited and was scheduled for a time right then and there. I hung up knowing I did well and was excited to move forward. However, this is when the experience began to go down hill. After my next round was already set up with a time and day, the recruiting department sends me a short, inexplicable email the day before saying the hiring manager didn't like my resume anymore and wanted to pursue other candidates. I was very upset to say the least. So I let it go and moved on. Then 2 months later, out of nowhere, same said recruiting department calls me out of the blue. They explain that after some internal discussions they hadn't found a candidate yet and wanted to know if I was still interested in interviewing for the role. Needless to say, I was shocked. I was hesitant at first to take the interview as this was a red flag to me and I didn't want to be anyones backup choice. But I decided to take it to see what they had to offer. Finally, the day came when I had an interview with the product department. I can honestly say this was the WORST conducted interview of my life (and I'm a pretty easy going person). First off, my scheduled time for was 12pm. When the time came, no one called. 5 minutes went by...10 minutes...almost 15 minutes and no call. I was furious at this point with this organization. Finally, I had to contact the recruiting department myself to let them know. They did not even apologize, all they said was 'let me check'. Almost 20 minutes after my scheduled time, the hiring manager calls. Without even an apology, he just starts talking about himself and his background. At this point, I was so over this company I almost hung up. But being I'm a nice person...I decided to stick things out. He finally asked me a couple questions and said I would have time at the end to ask any questions I may have. As the interview was winding down, it was my turn to ask questions. I had a few ready to go. When it was my turn, before I could get one word out, I heard a woman's voice coming through our call. She said, "your next candidate is here". I thought this was extremely unprofessional and rude. The hiring manager didn't even apologize and instead of finishing my interview on my scheduled time he says (and I quote) "Sorry, my next candidate is here. Can we finish this later?" I was furious...instead of doing the right thing and finishing my call, he hangs up and says he would call me back in an hour. That was the final straw for me. I couldn't take any more abuse. I was left in awe...this once cool company I wanted to interview for did I complete 180. I think their true colors came through that day. Moral of the story: I advise anyone thinking about applying here to not waste your time. Take your value and skills...and bring them to someone who will appreciate it. The recruiting and leadership team needs to get their applicant process together. Unfortunately, I'm not sure if they ever will.

Hey There - I am the CEO of GRIN and wanted to respond personally and apologize for the experience you had interviewing with us. One of our core values at GRIN is humility and that wasn't displayed here. We've been working on building up the product management department and it is admittedly one of the more immature functions in the company at this point. Still not an excuse for how you were treated and the lack of professionalism. I've followed up with the department heads to ensure that this is something we learn from and use to get better as a team. Good luck in your search and appreciate the candor on letting us know where we need to improve.
