I applied online. I interviewed at GSK (Irvine, Scotland) in Mar 2017
Interview
Two pre-screening telephone interviews and two face to face interviews (split into competency and technical questions and a final site tour). Overall there were a lot of hoops to jump through and the process was very repetitive and tiring. I was told I would hear within a few days of final interview and ensured I would receive feedback. I waited a few days before reaching out at the end of the week and was told they were still reviewing the candidates and that I would hear the following week. I waited until the end of the second week before reaching out again. Again I was told that there was still no news. 3 weeks later I got a phone call and I was given an excuse that there was a recruitment freeze and nobody was being taken on and the hiring manager was very disappointed with the situation. This seemed to be supported by the announcement of the closure of one of their plants in England. I was asked if I would be interested in the position when it became live at the end of the year due to a upcoming retirement. Cutting to the chase, the position became live again and I contacted HR to find out if it was the same role. During this conversation it came to light that another candidate was offered the position at the first interview and there had been no recruitment freeze... So I was lied too and honestly I am very disappointed at the whole situation. A simple unsuccessful email with some generic interview feedback would have sufficed but I was strung along for a weeks (probably until the preferred candidate accepted the position) just to find out 6 months later that I was lied too. Horrible experience and one I would avoid unless you don't mind the torturous waits and being lied too.
