My experience with Crossover's interview process was quite disappointing. I successfully completed the CCAT test, Data Science, and Generative AI assessments, reaching the final interview stage. Crossover emphasizes a fair evaluation based solely on skills, yet my encounter with the final interviewer from GT School contradicted this principle.
My interviewer was a kid straight out of college with no experience and no technical degree, which was surprising given my own qualifications—a Master of Science degree from a top US university, extensive experience in machine learning, and leadership of a development team. There seemed to be a discrepancy between the requirements for the role and the interviewer's qualifications.
While discussing machine learning concepts, I sensed a gap in understanding from the interviewer's end, which was concerning. Based on my background and experience, it was evident that I could have done not only my job also but also his job better than him.
It's perplexing that the interviewer, who would not have passed Crossover's basic fit test requirement based on experience, was in a gatekeeping position for GT School. This raises questions about Crossover's commitment to merit-based hiring and the qualifications of their interviewers.
Moreover, the potential compensation offered for the role was very low, but I was still considering it due to the job market's conditions.
My intention in engaging with Crossover was to be part of a system that prioritizes meritocracy. The final interview experience did not align with these principles.
