One phone interview, one follow up in person interview. Both interviews went well and was told an offer would be coming. I was not asked if I had a criminal record so I did not disclose in interviews, am not required to. Decided it was best to disclose before offer was made so I called hiring manager and told him of 9 year old conviction, he said he would pass info along to HR. Never heard back from HR or hiring manager even after several emails and voicemails. After several weeks I left a final voicemail thanking for chance to interview and that I was disappointed I did not hear back from anyone even if it was to tell me they could not hire me. Thanks to this, I will no longer disclose my record and will leave it up to company to ask or find through background check. It took courage on my part to let them know and I felt disrespected that they did not even bother to tell me no. Very cowardly.
