Had an initial phone screen and was ghosted. Honestly, expected this to happen — when I asked the interviewer (recruiter) what made my application initially stand out, she told me she “liked to see what other robotics people were up to.” Cool, but consider “seeing what other robotics people were up to” on your own time.
The cool part of having robotics experience is knowing that the quality of life for field technicians is directly tied to the quality of product and the culture of the engineering org. The reviews submitted by field technicians indicate the usual— sales people trying to sell unreliable robots, engineering teams not being held accountable for quality so they can work on shiny new things (of equally poor quality), and technicians having to deal with everything in between.
If you wanted to get trade secrets about robotics, pay people instead of disguising it as a phone screen. It’s unethical.
