      Environmental Specialist Interview

      9 Mar 2018
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Georgia-Pacific

      Interview

The first interview with the recruiter went really well. The recruiter was friendly, easy to talk to, and did a great job selling the company. The recruiter called the next day to have me speak to the hiring manager. The interview with the hiring manager went well. The hiring manager asked about my experiences, went over my resume, and asked the required questions they were supposed to. Many of the questions overlapped with ones asked by the hiring manager. This interview went well and I was offered an on-site interview. The hiring process went well until the on-site interview. While scheduling this interview, a different recruiter was brought into the process when setting up the details with the HR person. This made communication very confusing. Before the interview they sent information about the interview including what type of questions to expect, the location, and a schedule (which consisted of 6 one on one interviews and a group lunch). Once I arrived to the interview location, the entrance to the building was not marked and made it difficult to understand where to go. They did not provide this information in the email. Once I arrived inside, I sat for about 30 minutes waiting to meet with HR where the interview went well. After that I had to wait in a hallway until people on the schedule were ready and the schedule became out of order (no big deal, stuff comes up). The thing that irritated me the most was the lack of preparation from the company. Many of them did not look over my resume and I watched them physically print out the packet of questions GP provided right in front of me. From this, they picked random questions off the list, and they were not well thought out to see who I was as a candidate. Also, no one could really explain the duties of the job I applied too. All of this kept giving me red flags. After that, I was told I would hear back in a few days, where I got contacted by the recruiter to tell me they are extending the deadline when I would hear back since they were interviewing last minute candidates. Four weeks after the on-site interview I finally heard back. Although I did not receive an offer, I would have not accepted it from this specific GP location due to all the red flags during my on-site interview. I would interview with GP again at a different location since every location is different and the recruiter did a fantastic job.

      Question 1

Your typical behavioral questions. Many of them were about failing.

This is Molly from GP- thank you for taking the time to leave feedback on your interview experience. I am sorry to hear that the in-person interview left you with concerns on this location and the delay on your interview results. Please know that I am passing this onto our recruiting teams as feedback on opportunities to improve. If there is any further information you would like to share, please reach out to me at hrresponseteam@gapac.com. Thank you.
