      8 Apr 2021
      Anonymous employee
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Easy interview

      Application

      I interviewed at Global Relay

      Interview

HR called me by phone to schedule an interview. Whole interview consisted of 1 onsite. Very easy and chill interviewers. No leetcode questions were asked which was nice. I was interviewed by 2 teams at the same time so 3 people were in the room with me

Software Development Engineer In Test Interview

      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Global Relay (Vancouver, BC) in Nov 2018

      Interview

The interview process could take anywhere from 4 to 5 weeks. The process was rigorous, and time consuming. Overall interview process breakdown: - General HR phone interview - Technical phone interview - Take-home assignment (48 hours to complete) - In-person technical interview - In-depth HR interview Salary expectation was brought up by HR quite early on in the process. If you have certain salary expectation that must be met, it is best to ask before the take-home assignment to avoid disappointment, and may choose not to go further with the interview process, and not having to spend/waste time on the assignment. Assignment: even if you were able to get the answer, and followed all good coding practices, and standards, that might still not be enough. They look for things to be done in very specific ways but without telling the candidate what their exact expectations are. Depending on how a candidate would like to approach this; it may be best not to be too creative in your work, and follow a more textbook approach or just simply "you do you". If your assignment was not completed in the exact ways they expected, it is likely that a candidate might hear from HR about a different position that is not completely aligned with his/her profile. HR mentioned that their hiring was always on-going (no end date). It sounded like they actually did not have a position to fill immediately, thus, the long interview process. It all came down to being respectful of the candidate's time, which was a bit lacking.
