I applied online. I interviewed at Graphiq (Santa Barbara, CA) in Jun 2016
Interview
Skype interview. It was easy, asked about editorial judgment and such. The woman interviewing me was very nice, although I believe she also lost her job in their downsizing. Had to also submit written pitches for data-driven pieces. I don't think they even have an editorial dept. anymore?
I applied through university. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Graphiq (Santa Barbara, CA)
Interview
Several of the interviewers were rude and condescending. Although, at least 6 people interviewed me separately they did not seem to have a coherent plan as to what the interview was suppose to be about
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Graphiq in May 2015
Interview
The interview process consisted of an initial phone interview, a writing test, an interview with two employees, and then a final interview with the department head. I also submitted writing samples. All my interviews were over the phone since I was applying from school on the East Coast.
The initial phone screen focused on my writing background, work style and knowledge of the company. It's important to really know the company beforehand and be familiar with the product. The writing test involved choosing graphics to write about on a topic of your choice. The second interview mostly focused on the writing test.
All the interviewers were very friendly and enthusiastic about the company. I never felt in the dark about my application status and received useful feedback from my writing test. Overall, I was impressed with the interview process.
