I applied to a teaching job that was advertised for quite some time. This was especially odd for it being AFTER the start of the school year. They usually hire popular people in the Dallas social scene for the job OR this role makes one very 'cool' on the Dallas scene. Oddly enough, I've met a teacher from Greenhill without a BA degree, so their elitism is clearly selective. Red flag. I was simply looking for a stable, long-term job in my specific skill set which is hard to find.
Communication from HR was very slow considering teaching jobs need to be filled ASAP after school has started. I asked for a site visit and was denied. I have done site visits before as a candidate and found their denial to be suspicious. Most large schools have career fairs and their lack of access was concerning.
The rumors about the school are that the environment is elitist and filled with unprofessional behavior, mean-girl teacher cliques, affairs, bullying, and nepotism. I am so grateful to have dodged this red flag!
The interview was an all-day process. It was brutal but also nice to get to meet everyone that I would be interacting with if I were to have gotten the job.
