      Application

I applied online. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at Greenhouse Software (Denver, CO) in Nov 2018

      Interview

I was strung along for almost SIX weeks, only to not get an offer. The process began with a phone interview by one of the recruiting specialists. Next there was a typing test, as well as a take home writing test, which requires 2-3 hours of your time. The second interview was another phone conversation with a customer support manager, in which I was asked detailed questions about my background and overall technical aptitude. Several of these questions were overtly intricate, and challenging to answer. I then moved on to a 3 hour virtual interview. This typically would have taken place on site and been the final stage in the process, but they were unable to accommodate this as an on site interview. I ended up successfully getting through that stage, to then be told that there would now be an on site meeting. I then had what I thought was a productive on site meeting with the Director of Customer Support and the Customer Support Manager, as well as meeting several Customer Support Specialists. Three days later, I was told I didn't get the job. There are several glaring issues here: as far as I can tell, I went further in the interview process than other applicants who received offers. That seems utterly irresponsible to me. Secondly, the amount of time between the final interviews was absolutely ridiculous. After the lengthy virtual interview, it took well over a week for the on site interview. Two more weeks of my time wasted, and it seems as if they had their mind made up, considering that I wasn't asked any questions during the final interview in regards to what I was told were their ultimate concerns about my skillset. Overall, my impression of Greenhouse's recruiting process at this point, is that it is cumbersome and unnecessarily lengthy. I am severely disappointed that I didn't get the offer, especially considering that I had to go through more steps than a lot of current employees. Greenhouse makes it clear several times throughout this process that every applicant is asked the same questions, and I would assume the steps are the same for everyone. From what I can tell, this is not the case. This ended up being an absolutely devastating experience, the worst recruiting process I have encountered.

Hi there - I’m Jacqui, the Director of Talent Acquisition at Greenhouse. First, I’m very sorry that you left with a less-than-stellar impression of our interview process. We do our best to provide an excellent experience for each person we interact with, and we clearly didn’t do this in your case. As you know, we practice structured hiring, which often means multiple steps to the interview process. I can assure you that structured hiring also means a consistent process across all candidates to fairly assess each applicant’s skills and experiences. I appreciate your feedback, especially as we begin our hiring in Denver. We’re working hard to navigate the challenges of remote interviewing, and we will take your feedback seriously as we move forward. All the best, Jacqui

      Customer Support Specialist Interview

      Difficult interview

      Application

      I interviewed at Greenhouse Software

      Interview

Arduous and time consuming. They are using us applicants as free test subjects to assist in training their employees on the software product they sell…A product which assists other companies with hiring. What better way for Greenhouse employees to gain firsthand experience of their product than to have an unending stream of applicants at their disposal to toy with and waste about a month of their lives. Half the people I met with were “nice”. The other half bordered on snobby to contrived to condescending.

      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Greenhouse Software

      Interview

The process was very transparent and structured. Started with a 15 min phone screening with a recruiter who asked questions about what DE&I meant to me and explained in detail the role/salary/schedule. Next step was a 30 min phone interview with a team manager who asked questions to learn more about you work/learning style. After that I was sent an assignment that took about an hour to complete. Next was a 2 1/2 hour zoom interview where I first met with a member of the HR team, Then interviewed with a team lead, then a fellow Support Specialist. The last 15 mins of the interview I met with the recruiter to speak more about benefits and she asked me a few more HR related questions. I thoroughly enjoyed everyone I spoke with except for the Team Lead, who just seemed very indifferent during the interview. I was able to connect with everyone I spoke with except for the team lead, Which lead me to not be able to preform my best during that interview and not move on to the next round.
