I met with a district employee at a job fair and was recommended for hire. Following that interview, I interviewed with the principals of several schools. Following the second round of interviews, I was only contacted by the school where I was eventually hired. It is wise to bring a resume even if you have already submitted one, the interviewing principal will want to see it. Also bring all other credentials to the interview, such as a current teaching certificate, license, and social security card. Many schools actually require a license to enter, so be sure you have your driver's license or state issued ID or you may be denied access to the building. Be prepared to discuss current teaching models such as inclusion and collaboration, as well as progress monitoring and integrating technology into the classroom. Be sure to be abreast on the most recent research, methods, and best practice as these do change rapidly and you will be expected to be in the know. It is wise to be open to any and all new teaching methods as you will be expected to implement teaching methods on command, whether you agree with them or not. In other words, be positive about change and trying new methods and ideas. Negativity toward a new and upcoming teaching practice can lower your chances of getting hired.
