      Software Engineer Intern Interview

      21 Nov 2025
      Anonymous employee
      San Francisco, CA
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Gusto (San Francisco, CA)

      Interview

After application, you receive a codesignal GCA if selected, it's not auto. If you pass, you're moved onto the first technical round. If you pass, there's another technical round. Both technical rounds are leetcode style from the Gusto tagged. Finally, there's two 30 minute behavioral interviews. The first (VMA) is tell me about a time based, the second (hiring manager) is more situational/project based (what would you do if...).

      Question 1

What would you do and who would you tell if you encountered a bug in a project just before the deadline?

      Software Engineer Intern Interview

      6 Dec 2025
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Gusto

      Interview

Got an OA and then a technical interview invite a few days later. The interviewer gave me a pretty hard LC problem: 273 Integer to English Words. I got most of it done and passed the test cases. The interviewer seemed nice and didn’t really push for more followup or full coverage of the problem. Still got a rejection two days later tho. Guess the bar for this company is just super high.

      Average interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Gusto (San Francisco, CA) in Jan 2025

      Interview

the process consisted of an online assessment, phone screen, 1-hour first round technical, and final round consisting of a 1-hour technical and two 30-min behaviorals. the technicals were less focused on dsa and were more practical questions, and they do ask you to compile your code. you get to meet many engineers and get a sense of the culture of the company.
