      Customer Care Interview

      25 Sept 2015
      Anonymous employee
      Denver, CO
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Gusto (Denver, CO) in Sept 2015

      Interview

I found the interview process to be uniquely thorough, personal and transparent. Shortly after submitting my application online, I was contacted by a recruiter, who would be my contact through the whole process, to set up a phone interview. The 30 minute call covered general knowledge about the company, some background information about both parties, and my motivation for wanting to work with the company. After the call, I was given a take-home assignment with a 2-day turnaround time. The assignment was challenging and fun. It wasn't a "right-or-wrong" test, but an opportunity to display your problem solving approach, ability to succinctly explain technical concepts, and research a potentially unfamiliar subject matter. Following the assignment, I had an onsite interview with three members of the Care Team. I spent about an hour with each individual. Some of the time was just casual conversation, some of it was answering questions that assessed skills applicable to the role and familiarity with the company values. I don't generally relish the interview process and the rigid Q&A format that has become the norm, and this was a much more personal experience than any interview I've been a part of. Shortly after the onsite interview, I was asked to come in to meet with the CEO. This was definitely surprising, but displayed that amidst all the exciting growth that's happening, the leadership cares deeply about the company they're building. They're making enormous efforts to preserve the culture they've fostered and stay true to the founding values that have guided their success so far, and that's very assuring for an applicant. The whole process is very thoughtfully conceived and executed. I experienced complete transparency every step of the way, and in the end, both parties have a complete picture of the other.

Best interview process. Everyone is so nice and relatable. Probably one of the best interviews that I’ve ever done. I felt like an employee that was already hired. Great benefits. Great incentives

      Interview

Applied in late February/early March. I heard back in May. I had a phone screen and then a take home assignment. The take home assignment covered emails I would likely reply to and tax/payroll questions. I was invited to interview shortly after this process, and I met four members of the team. I spent close to 30 minutes with each member answering questions about my customer service experience. The interview was very conversational and laid back. I felt very comfortable and like they truly wanted to get to know me as a person. After the interview, I scheduled a follow up call to give them feedback. I then recieved another call a few days later with a job offer. The whole process was professional and transparent.

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Gusto (Denver, CO) in Jun 2019

      Interview

I applied and then had a thirty minute phone interview followed by a written assignment. After the written assignment, I advanced to the next round of interviews which was about 2 and a half hours with four different interviewers (about 30 minutes each). The interview process was extensive but the interviewers did a good job of making the experience very comfortable and the interviews seem more like conversations with a friend.
