I applied through an RPO, I was not made aware that this was a contract to perm role until the day of my interview. When I got to HCA, the hiring manager gave me the quickest walkthrough of the campus and didn’t do much to explain the departments at that location. He was very dry in his interview process, and seemed to focus the fact that my prior three roles were short-term. When I explained that one was a contract role and one was with my family business to get me more experience after Grad school, that didn’t seem to suffice. He hounded me about why I wanted to leave my current role, which I could not tell the truth about because you don’t ever speak poorly of other employers in an interview. I was also advised by the RPO to not discuss wanting to move up within the company. Apparently, HCA does not want candidates that perform well to expect promotions and advancement opportunities. The interviewer tried to trip me up on this, asking about my 1 year goal. Even saying “learning more about what I studied in school and am passionate about through application” seemed too lofty of a goal for him. That’s when I realized they wanted robotic yes-men, not creative problem solvers.
The RPO provided me with a copy of the rejection email, where the interviewer had very much twisted my words when providing feedback. It is very clear they had no intention of hiring me.
