      Inside Sales Representative Interview

      13 Apr 2018
      Anonymous interview candidate
      New York, NY
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at HOLT Group (New York, NY) in Apr 2018

      Interview

The first interview went ok. They really don't tell you much about the company they let you do all the talking which is fine but it's a learning experience for the future employee too. For one this isn't a sales job this is a renting out equipment job and is hourly pay with small bonuses. Very small. Not bashing the job because someone would love to have this job but be more transparent with the description so you attract the right people with the right experience. I don't think the pay is very much and they don't have any specific sales expectations of you. You basically answer the phones, assist walk in traffic and hand the leads off to the outside sales person. There's probably a lot of work to do through out the day but don't call it inside sales when you don't have any target sales objectives. Your baciscly just an order taker (yes you need to know your product) and any real sales person with experience is wasting their time coming to an interview. Like don't waste my time because it's valuable, don't invite me to a second interview if it's not a fit. I think they are required to perform a certain amount of interviews when they already have their minds made up which is a waste of everyone's time! I'm a sales professional. I wouldn't have even applied to this position if the job description was more specific to what the actual day on the job looks like. Called me for a second interview and about 30 min later, I got the denial email. Like, tell me to my face,. A real sales person is use to rejection. Don't try to hide it. They don't pay enough anyways, what a waste of time. Have a phone interview to explain the role first to save people time. I guess they just like to waste it.
