      Commercial Global PS Marketing Interview

      27 Feb 2019
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Palo Alto, CA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at HP Inc. (Palo Alto, CA) in Jan 2019

      Interview

Based on the experience I had with interviewing at HP, I would not recommend anyone to pursue the company for positions due to the fact that the company is too slow to respond and delays its feedback on candidates for over a month. If you are going to interview at HP, please know that it's going to take several months for them to make a decision. The interview process for me took over 8 weeks from the time that they contacted me for an HR screen. In addition, the company took over 4 weeks to respond to my job application. With that said, the total hiring process took over 12 weeks for HP. During this experience, HP was stagnant throughout the whole process, taking 4 weeks to provide final feedback on my candidacy. The interview process first started with an HR screen with the recruiter. After that, I had a brief 30 min phone call with the hiring manager. From there, the hiring manager green-lighted me to go in the final round which consisted of 4 phone interviews with senior level marketing team members. In addition, it included one 45 min phone interview with the hiring manager. During this interview, the hiring manager wanted me to present a brief I've written in the past which included (business objective, marketing objective, target audience + insight, and market strategy). After I went through the entire interview process, I followed up with HP for several weeks to see where I stood on my candidacy. During this time, I checked-in with HP on a weekly basis to see how things were going. With this process, the HR team was not quick to respond to any of my emails or provided any detailed feedback on next steps. The HR team would take 1 - 2 weeks to respond to my emails which I felt was very unprofessional considering that other major companies keep an ongoing communication with potential candidates. When HR did respond, they told me that the position is still open and I was still under consideration for it. After 4 weeks of follow up with HR, they finally told me I was no longer in consideration for the position. By this point, I was not surprised by their response. However, I did wish that HP would have given me quicker feedback that did not take over a month. As a comparison, most companies will provide feedback within 1 week.
