Awful. So many red flags before I'd even gotten to the "informal" screening call. The recruiter just scheduled the screening call for a half an hour slot over monday lunchtime. They gave no options of alternative dates or times - I must drop everything to suit their diary it appears.
In the same email were 11 (!) lengthy “describe your experiences of” questions to answer in writing by email reply. Questions like : “Please share your experience in driving action planning across the business and some of the challenges you came up against and how you may have navigated those.” with the instruction to: “In the interim, would you please take few minutes to briefly answer the following questions:”
Red flag number one. This question alone would take about 1hr to prep a decent answer in writing?!?! Plus, is the recruiter incapable of taking notes while chatting through these questions informally, one has to wonder?!!
Another of the questions was a table requesting “What is your current salary (please share Base Salary + Target Bonus + Car Allowance + LTI + Pension + Other allowances if any) and what is your salary expectations for this role. Please share a salary range.”
It seems I must have insider knowledge of this company's reward grading structure, and provide my own job evaluation based on the job spec. Surely you have a reward benchmark for that??
It is also rather lot of personal reward detail to prepare for a supposed “informal” screening call.
Before the call happens, I received a survey asking about the quality of the screening call. Which expires within 7 days (before the call is due to take place… lol).
Then the call happens and I request flexible working arrangements. No problem, the recruiter says, they will find out if this is possible. Then never replies to another email nor sends me an answer.
7 days later, having heard nothing, I check workday and my application has moved into “application unsuccessful” status. No notification email was issued or received. Noone thought to let me know they were not going to progress with my application.
So many red flags. Avoid!!! I dread to think what the onboarding and employee experiences are like.
