I was contacted by a recruiter for the VP of Sales role in December of 2024. After initial contact with the recruiter she moved me to a first interview with the COO, David. The interview went well. Conversation flowed smoothly. He asked relevant questions pertaining to my background and the role. In response, he answered my questions thoroughly and provided a lot of context to the organization and role. It was a good experience. He recommended to move me on to the next step in the process. That was to interview with Jim Mirochnik the CEO.
I met with Jim in Jan, 2025. The call started off awkwardly and went downhill from there. He continually cut me off mid sentence. He asked me the year I graduated high school. I answered with the year. He then asked me what year I graduated college. I answered him again with my year of graduation. It was clear to me he was sizing up my age. I'm 50 years old. There was no reason for him to ask those questions. In fact, in my 28 year work history, I've never been asked my graduation dates. Jim ended the interview early. Needless to say, I received an email five days later that they were proceeding with other candidates.
