I applied online. I interviewed at Harlem Link Charter School
Interview
It was very seamless. After filling out an online application everything went full throttle. From talking to the hiring manager all the way to the school interview and visit. The process moved rather quickly, which I appreciated.
Initial screening interview was somebody on the phone merely transcribing my responses. She was disinterested in my responses...I hurt my chances by giving her conversational-style responses that relied on her to provide a good synopsis. Should have been shorter and more direct.
When I went in to demo that classroom's teacher was not particularly helpful. I later discovered the likely reason: over the summer there is at least one demo day a week, and there are multiple candidates coming in delivering a lesson each demo day. I must have been the 5th demo those kids have had over the past week or two. The demo included independent work time, which I thought was unusual.
