Initial screening interview was somebody on the phone merely transcribing my responses. She was disinterested in my responses...I hurt my chances by giving her conversational-style responses that relied on her to provide a good synopsis. Should have been shorter and more direct. When I went in to demo that classroom's teacher was not particularly helpful. I later discovered the likely reason: over the summer there is at least one demo day a week, and there are multiple candidates coming in delivering a lesson each demo day. I must have been the 5th demo those kids have had over the past week or two. The demo included independent work time, which I thought was unusual.
