Applied for a receptionist role on their website and received a call 2 days later to discuss availability, stores with vacancies etc. Was told I was successful and interviewed a few days later. Easy interview, standard interview questions relating to experience, customer service, full or part time etc. Was told right after I was successful and returned a few days later For a trial shift.
Lasted about 2hrs and consisted of standing at reception and being taught how to use the booking system, answering a few calls was introduced to the stylists and sat down a couple customers and brought tea or coffee. Fairly easy experience. Was told I'd get a phone call to say whether I was successful the following Friday (a week from trial shift).
The following Friday the call did not come even though I was told by (I think He was) the manager that I would definitely get a Call either way. I waited until the following Tuesday to call The salon back to ask about the progress of my application as we all know unexpected things happen. The lady who answered the phone when I asked to speak to the manager said he was busy but That he would call me later that day. Again, nothing.
I left it for a few weeks and at This point it had been a month And was applying for And getting interviews with other companies but wanted this job the most and was told by employees and manager that I'd get a call. I called the recruitment line and explained. She was understanding and agreed as I've been told by This company twice that I'd get a call on 2 specific days and didn't. She checked my details and couldn't Find details about whether the position had been filled. She confirmed my phone # (they had my correct phone number and email so It's not that they lost my contact details) And said she'd call the salon I interviewed at after speaking to me and would call me back within the hour. Once again, no call. It's now been 1month since then and 2months since applying for the job.
Very negative experience overall. Was rushed and pretty much shooed away on the phone and, left hanging on 3 separate occasions when given specific day And and time of call back 3 separate times and employees could use some better training on recruiting. Extremely disrespectful. I don't understand what's so hard about saying, "yes, you got it, sorry, no or we're still interviewing"? As a customer who goes to one of their salons once a month and has spent over £1000 there over the course of 2-3yrs, I will not be returning as a job applicant or customer. We should all be treated with respect, Not Just as customers but job seekers as well, which I am both.
