The interview task (estimated at 1.5 hours to prepare a 40-minute presentation) took me over 12 hours to complete. I felt the time commitment was significantly underestimated, which can be misleading and challenging for candidates balancing other commitments.
During the interview, the tone sometimes felt more critical than constructive, with limited opportunity for telling the story of the presentation, open dialogue or acknowledgement of the effort involved. I was also surprised to be asked to justify skills such as coding HTML emails from scratch, as this wasn’t outlined in the job description and hasn’t been a requirement in similar CRM marketing roles I’ve interviewed for over the past 8 years. If this had been flagged earlier in the process, I could have assessed whether it was worth moving forward and investing so much time.
