I interviewed at Helmsley Charitable Trust (Midtown New York)
Interview
All by Zoom. Phone screen by HR, followed by 1 on 1 with Program Director, then 1 on 1's with two other Program directors, and Then 1 on 1 with CEO. Scheduled 1 on 1 with Program Officers then cancelled hours before that interview and told me I was no longer a candidate.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 7 months. I interviewed at Helmsley Charitable Trust (New York, NY) in May 2025
Interview
Very lengthy with the intention of being inclusive of all members of the organization but ultimately repetitive and disorganized. Over time this process appears to hinder the candidate and the organization because it becomes clear there isn't a clear consensus on the goals, and the actual needs of the role/department aren't rooted in a realistic understanding of what the organization might need. This was further exemplified in the communications with candidates. While it is slow, they did not offer any feedback even at the penultimate round (6 months), which is disrespectful to the candidate's time and that of the team members, but ultimately signals there is no internal clarity. The hiring manager admitted to not even remembering the first meeting or conversation during the in-person because it had been several months. It's a shame because the organization does do some great work but gets in its own way from any real standing in the public sphere.

I applied online. The process took 4 months. I interviewed at Helmsley Charitable Trust (New York, NY)
Interview
The process was excessively lengthy and disorganized, lasting over four months. It began with an HR screening, followed by a Zoom interview with the hiring manager, then another with two team members, a third with four colleagues across the organization, and finally an in-person interview with the entire team. The interviews felt repetitive, and I was even asked to meet the hiring manager twice—months apart—which made it clear they didn’t recall our prior conversation.
