      Product Marketing Manager Interview

      7 Nov 2022
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Henry Schein

      Interview

Very slow and unprofessional. Recruiter contacted within a few days of submitting online application for a video screening but ghosted after the 30 minute video call after committing to share my profile with the hiring manager and getting back to me by 24-48 hours . When I followed up after 10 days, I was referred to another HR rep for another screen! I still obliged and got moved to interview with hiring manager and a senior director (from cross-functional team) after 10 days!(it took more than a month from initial HR screen to interview with the HM!). The Sr Director didn’t join the interview call . I then had another ghosting period of 9 days before the interview scheduler( separate person) invited me to final round with a Director of a cross-functional stakeholder team (not skip level or HM's boss) and the President of the company (in that geography) the next day! I agreed for an interview at the end of that week(3 days later). The President didn’t join the interview call join and I had one of my worst interview experiences with the interviewer. S/he rudely interrupted me within 2 minutes of the interview! It was an open ended question, there’s always a nice way to follow up! It just set the wrong tone at the very start of the interview and I knew s/he had already made up her/his mind before coming. It’s absolutely ok to not hire someone but the least you can do is treat with respect. It was a huge red flag for me and I immediately knew I didn’t want to be a part of that team and company . I was still professional throughout and asked questions- the interviewer pushed back on a pretty self explanatory question I asked and I decided to let go and didn’t engage. As expected I was again ghosted for 10-12 days and finally received a system generated response from the original recruiter saying I don’t have the right experience! They should sincerely think about this process then- even after two HR screens and 1 hour detailed interview with HM focusing specifically on job responsibilities (which established I had the skills and experience to do the job well and hence I got to the final stage), if they can’t identify people with the right experience and set interviews with the President of the company (in that region), it’s quite ridiculous! The only saving grace about the whole experience was my conversation with the hiring manager which was engaging and respectful.
