Gave me a case interview, and then after I worked few days on it, told me the position was not opened anymore. Wasted my time. If they wanted to consult me on a problem a coffee chat would suffice. I would gladly help. What a scam

Interview
As few other reviewers mention here, Hopper is looking for free consulting from Data Scientists and they have no intention of hiring them. I first met an HR person for a screening interview and I was given a take-home assignment of their real problems and case studies that I'd like to believe that I did exceptionally well. I then met with the Lead Data Scientist to do a walkthrough of the assignment and I thought the call went really well as he was very impressed with the ideas that I had presented. But I then got a rejection email soon after, so I can certainly say with 95% confidence that Hopper is not looking into hiring Data Scientists but they're looking to getting free consulting from the candidates for their organizational DS problems and case studies. Don't waste your time giving these interviews, my only regret is I wasted a lot of time and put in a tremendous effort for the take-home assignment. The company laid off 45% of its workforce during the pandemic, so one really cannot expect the company to be ethical!

Interview
A friendly phone screen with recruiter. However, second stage involved eliciting two product improvement ideas with detailed follow-up questions.
This was highly consistent with the interview experiences of others mentioned on Glassdoor.
