I applied through university. I interviewed at Houlihan Lokey
Interview
This was the first round. The interviewer went through my resume and asked me to describe myself. He then asked me financial questions. They ranged from hard to simple. With more difficult questions, whenever I got stuck he helped me to get through answering it. Overall he was quite friendly.
First round was very relaxed - the interviewer asked a couple behavioral questions and maybe 2 technical questions - felt very discussional - only went through maybe 4-5 questions for 30 minutes
The process was relatively chill. I did a first round and it was mainly behavioral with some technicals. They asked "Walk me through how to value companies and DCF" which is standard for IB
I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Houlihan Lokey (New York, NY) in Jan 2026
