I applied for a fixed-term role at Howden online. The HR department quickly responded to me about my application with some follow-up questions (such as salary expectations). It sounded like a great role, very similar to roles I have been in for the past 6+ years, with my experience far surpassing the role requirements outlined. It also seemed like a great company that cares about people. I had a call with the Director, which went very well. We discussed my aligned background and got to know each other better.
I quickly heard back about the second stage which was at the office to meet one of the team. It felt a little disorganised with some meeting room challenges. Nonetheless, I could easily answer all questions because of my extensive experience in this area. It took some time for me to hear back after the second stage. Eventually, I received a call from an HR member informing me that I had been unsuccessful. This was a bit of a surprise to hear, but of course, in this competitive climate, one never knows who they'll be competing against. Though not particularly constructive, it was fair enough feedback.
The next week, I received an email letting me know I had been unsuccessful due to supposedly not meeting the desired requirements for this role. Not only does this contradict the feedback I received directly, but it is also incorrect feedback. The Employer Brand experience, and seemingly auto-response touchpoints, need looking at Howden... It is certainly worth reviewing if this is the case, especially since you've recently refreshed your identity. It's a difficult climate for job seekers right now, and people don't need to be seeing disappointing emails which are not only a contradiction, but incorrect and borderline offensive. It doesn't paint the organisation in the best light, you can, and should, do better.
