Applied via LinkedIn, heard back not too longer after from the recruiter to set up the initial screening. The screening went well and I was set up to interview with the Director of Architecture the next morning.
That interview also went well, but there were a few things related to AWS services that I didn't know (I mean, there are over 200, I can't know all of them), and a question about database denormalization that I didn't know a lot about. I excelled in the portion about API design and development.
I received an email the next day that they wouldn't be moving forward. I seems like they don't care if you can easily google something you don't know (like I did with the denormalization question and the AWS services), they just want a unicorn who knows everything they need you to know, and there's no sense of if you can grow into the role.
There's also only a single review for the company by the recruiter, kind of a red flag.
They're going to pass on a lot of great candidates because of this mentality. Everything they asked for, I have already done professionally for years, and I'm very personable and easy to work with. Their loss.
