I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at IRS
Interview
Did not have to do an interview for this job. Applied for GS 4-5 and received GS 4 position. Was never asked to interview and received job after accepting firm offer
I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at IRS (Philadelphia, PA) in Aug 2011
Interview
An email was sent stating that I was super qualified for the position. Another email was sent informing me of the interview date and documents that had to be completed were attached to the email. I showed up and they had 20-30 people interviewing for 5 full time positions and 10 part-time seasonal positions. They kept everyone in a cold room, we had to be fingerprinted, submit documents and interviewed. I was interviewed by someone in the calling center but she did not have a copy of my resume. She had a list of questions but no one looks at the person's resume before or during the interview. Not that my past experience was applicable. But I was provided with an offer that was conditional based upon the outcome of my background check. They did not seem that organized. Many people who were pulled from human resources to interview people were not prepared or familiar with the interview process. It felt like an open cattle call. Lots of people pushed through. People were nice and friendly don't get me wrong but they knew that many of the people who came in would not be hired.
Interview questions [2]
Question 1
Have you ever worked in a customer service position? (spoken with attitude)
No interview process, it's a direct-hire job. If you look good on paper then you're in. They sent an email saying I got the job and went into detail on what to do.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
There wasn't an interview. As long as you look good on your resume.
I applied online. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at IRS (Kansas City, MO) in Oct 2016
Interview
It's a direct-hire position. So if your resume looks great, they will send you an email about the selection and give you information about orientation. The process just takes a long time. I think it took 3 months? Went to orientation in October and officially was hired in January. The government is slow. I think part of the reason is background checks but other than that...slow
