Illustrative Mathematics interview questions

This was a rediculous process that took nearly FIVE months from first contact to a generic "no thank you" email. That was probably the most insulting part of this process. 3 interviews, 1 assignment. IM preaches diversity and what I experienced was nothing of the sort. What they really want is an echo chamber. In my final interview, I learned about the interviewer's political stances, something I've never experienced before. As someone interviewing, I obviously stay away from any topics like that but the interviewer also made it clear political views affect their national strategy, and where you live plays some part in their hiring manager's decision. While I don't think this reflects IM's formal strategy, the influence of that manager was strong, and certainly makes an impact. While that final interview was absolutely a turn-off for me, the recruiter was wonderful and what I would have expected from a company like IM. The assignment was good too. Well thought-out and the amount of time was ample. The overall process was long enough that even after following up multiple times, I forgot that I was even still being considered for positions there. Towards the end it almost was comicial how long it was drawn out. Nearly 3 weeks from scheduling to when the interviews took place. After it was all said and done, even if I was offered a position, I would have declined. The pay was about 35% less than expected and the hiring manager gave me nearly every red flag to not want to work for them. It's really too bad because IM's mission is great and when I did interview with others they were all wonderful people.

Initial Phone screen with follow up promised. No one ever reached out regarding next steps. Emails requesting information went ignored. Disappointing process for a company for which I was very interested
